A MUST read for anyone who is or knows a woman
If you or someone you know will go through or has gone through menopause, do yourself a favor and read this book! It will help you understand the process in an honest and relatable way.I lost my mom when I was in my late â20s and never got to ask her what her menopause journey was like or even if she fully experienced it. My husband lost his mom when he was even younger but talks about how evil his step mom was. After reading this book Iâm sure he was living with a woman suffering is silence. Now, we both need this book to understand the changes that are happening in my life that feel so unpredictable. This book gives me knowledge, tools to help control some of the symptoms and hope for an empowered future.Dr. SGL has been an important person in my life, encouraging me before I had my kids, there to deliver them and now educating and guiding me on this crazy roller coaster through menopause.

Things my mother would have said, only now I listen.
Laugh out loud moments that define the mystic, joy, embarrassment, bewilderment and acceptance of rite that is Menopause. In a modern world of “Way to busy women” and “Not now motherly moments that miss the mark with daughters, certain that this knowledge was lost and never to be passed down in the loss of connection to my female tribe, I feel like I opened a treasure trove of “Someone is here to guide me”. Delighted that topics covered my late night googled questions and offered new information to embody the process of my body, sexuality and our support systems. I finally have a source I can relate to in the game of womanhood. Games change when the rules are read. With that…âthe physical and sexual well-being of men over fifty is paramount, while women over fifty are desexualized and overlooked,â -I am woman and I command my body with equality. Thanks mom. I am listening.

A fearless book and author!
Dr. Gilberg-Lenz writes more than being an expert and advocate for those dealing with menopause and how to help them. She unearths how women are underrepresented in medical research and the reasons behind it. She is the ultimate patient advocate, fearless to share the latest status of menopause its related effects (physical , emotional and social) that can ensue. She is fully transparent about her life and meaningfully incorporates her own challenges (breast cancer, divorce, menopause) to deliver information with profound relatability, potency, inspiration. The knowledge imparted in this book is complete. This book should be required reading for women and men alike. Why men? Because it provides a lens through which to see what women experience with menopause. That can go along way towards empathy and supporting a partner experiencing menopause.

Scattered
This book kind of goes away from menopause and its symptoms and treatments onto tangents about capitalism, patriarchy, and unfair treatment of the queer community and minorities. There are some really fun parts to read, helpful parts, but then pages go by that veer off of menopause altogether.

Finally, a starting point – and it’s actually fun to read
I read this book really fast and am going back and reading it again. I have been circling around so much of this information and so many of these questions for ages, and finally, here it all is in one place. Dr. Gilberg-Lenz has a great, accessible, enjoyable writing style plus her years of clinical experience. There are clear, simple things that anyone can safely implement on their own, and the book reads like a handbook for how to talk to your doctor so that you’re on a path forward. Finally. Reading this makes you feel like you have a doctor in your corner who gets it, and makes you feel empowered to seek out clinicians who get it. Bravo!
