    My original pitcher had a larger foot print which made it cumbersome for use in fridge. The new one is lighter in weight because the plastic is less sturdy. Actually, that is proving to be okay. I like the less cumbersome and lighter weight. The original lasted many years and was discarded only when a few tiny chips developed around the rim. I am talking 8-10 years here. Dunno how newbie will hold up but early use is promising. The bright red color is refreshing. Same filters fit the new one. Go ahead and get this new model.
